Before the prototype show at the Levante Fair (under the 81st Campionary, from 9 to 17 September), then the production will be activated by the end of the year in the former Carrara Elevators plant: the first car made in Bari is getting closer and closer. So much so that 'Tua Industries', a company belonging to the US investment fund Lcv Capital Management (De Vincenzo and Bonidy), has already 'set up papers' to present its small fueled car to electricity (the first in the alternative power category). In Turin, on Monday, June 5, the group's board of directors took over the barese factory to transform it (in the first phase) into the home of so-called quadricycles. That is, lightweight vehicles that can be driven without a license, but that, for industrial purposes, are the starting point for getting a mid-class car that can be appreciated for performance and versatility. The novelty is that the car has concluded a European type-approval test (a technical step for the free-running of electrical systems) and prepares for the official presentation. So much so that the company and the Puglia Region, through the employment task force, will have a meeting on June 28th (Giovanni Battista Razelli, CEO of the company is also excluded) to address the issues of reindustrialization in concrete terms.
At the fair
On the occasion, the place of the presentation will be agreed: everything will take place at the Fair of the Levante where in September the Campionaria will be held. Subsequently, 192 workers from the former Om Carrelli, who are currently involved in social dampers, will be recalled (the integration fund will expire at the end of December 2017). But according to Tua Industries' plans, the plant would occupy up to 440 employees, subject to sales trends. Because the plants will have to assemble the components in order to completely bury the electric car made in Bari. To this end, the works of reclamation from the asbestos of the roof and walls are being completed (although it has taken longer than expected) of the plexus located in via Delle Ortensie 33 (in the industrial area of Modugno). The quadricycle, whose track tests have shown excellent travel performance (over 200 kilometers with a charge) will be produced with imported volumes: from 6,000 in 2018 to 25,000 in a row. It will be a low cost car with composite metal body and four seats. The measurements will be compact (high and wide 1.5 meters long and little over 3 meters long).
The investment
The Tua Industries project also rests on a development contract signed with Invitalia. The total investment is 48.8 million, of which 36.6 million of discounts (25 million of discounted loans and 11 million of lost funds). And a decisive role in getting the free way from Invitalia was carried out by the Puglia Region, which co-financed the reconversion project with a sum of 5 million. "We are happy with the choice made," said Razelli, presenting the industrial plan to local institutions-because we have seen your will to work. The first step is to make a city car with our production line that will not be automated but will greatly enhance our ability to build. " Apparently the first step is going to take place.
