The United States is a big beauty market for Beauty in Italy with a value of 406 million euros and a third in 2016, after France and Germany, among the destinations of Italian cosmetics exports, with a remarkable growth of 24 , 4% over 2015. This figure represents 87.6% of exports to the Nafta area (Canada, Mexico and the United States).
The Italian makeup conquers the Americans
On the US market, make up made in Italy is among the top sellers, worth over 106 million euros, or 27% of Italian exports to America, according to the 2016 figures provided by Cosmetica Italia in occasion of Cosmoprof North America, held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, repeating the successful format that BolognaFiere exports to the world.

In addition to the make up equally important are perfumes, with 97 million euros and body products with over 95 million euros (+ 50.5% compared). In detail, the biggest increase is for male cosmetics (world macrotrend) and sprouting beard products. Must have Made in Italy also shoes, creams, soaps, nail products and toothpaste.

On the occasion of the American Kermesse, a specialized trade show of North America and in particular of the USA, 47 Italian companies participated, with the support of Cosmetica Italia and was present at the fair a collective collective of 14 companies in the pavilion 'Professional Beauty ', aimed at reiterating the excellence of Italian cosmetics companies and their competitiveness at international level.

"In the face of a world demand that grows just over 4%," says Fabio Rossello, president of Cosmetica Italia at Cosmoprof North America, Italian exports exceed the 12% rate. Even in the American market, penetration of Italian cosmetic companies is much more dynamic than domestic demand. It is a confirmation of a consolidated offer, of an ever-accurate service and of the flexibility to customers, which have been a feature of these companies for years. Recent studies on the industrial sector also record aggregate balance sheet balances well above national averages, demonstrating non-episodic but structural health and projected in the medium term. "

How much is Italian cosmetique?
Italian cosmetic market sales in 2016 reached 10.5 billion euros. The cosmetic industry has a weight of 0.6% on the total wealth produced in Italy, its exports being 1.0% of the total Italian exports. The role of foreign markets remains crucial: exports grew by over 12 percentage points (equivalent to 4.3 billion euros), thus generating an active trade balance of 2.3 billion euros.

The entire expanded cosmetic range, from ingredients to machinery, ranging from packaging to finished product, reaches a value of over 15 billion euros, with an estimated growth of 4.5% in 2017.

Italy is the fourth market in Europe after Germany, the UK and France. Europe is the largest cosmetic market in the world with 77 billion euros.
